Sports Essay
A sports essay can be one of the most satisfying essay writing exercise, if you are a sports buff or actively taking part in it. The essay would just be an extension of what you feel about sports. Millions across the world have found it to be the single most exhilarating factor that can rejuvenate lives and bring vigor and health. At a time when terrorism has penetrated the psyche of many people, sports can the healing touch needed to bring people together in harmony and good will. Students are exposed to sports quite early in school. Schools provide them the avenue to direct their energy towards developing sportsmanship, physical fitness, and a sense of healthy competitiveness. To write a sports essay though requires writing skills, knowledge of a particular sport, and the ability to convey it all to a wide audience.
- Well-written sports features can bring in many young people into sports. For example, students who have not participated in soccer can learn about how it is played, the rules that govern it, and the easiest way to learn how to play it. A sports article on the notice board with pictures of the school winning team is sufficient to motivate and inspire the next generation of sportspersons.
- A sport is normally initiated in school with the help of competition. A contest invariably manages to bring in new students into the sport. Soccer can help develop skills like dribbling and strategy.
- Competitiveness in sport is something which all students should try to learn. In life, we can fail at any moment in time. How does one cope up with such an event? It becomes easy to deal with failure when you take part in sports. In soccer, for example, the success-failure rate could be 50% or even as low as 10%. When students are trained, they are taught to take failure in the stride. The Olympic motto introduced by de Coubertin truly summarizes the essence of sports. It states, “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part.”
- Writing a sports essay might not be too difficult an exercise to complete, but if it succeeds in getting a few more students interested in a sport, it would be worth writing it.
